Passport Application Guidelines:

The following information and requirements must be read carefully before commencement of an application.

APPLICABLE SITUATIONS:

Any Lesotho national who wishes to apply for a New passport, Renew, or Replace their Expiring/Expired passport will find the following procedural guidance useful.

ACCESS TO THE HIGH COMMISSION

The submission of passport applications at the High Commission is by appointment only between:

Prior to passport application, all applicants need to acquire birth certificate at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lesotho. It could be done by relatives, neighbours, who know the applicant’s date of birth.

PRELIMINARY ARRANGEMENTS BEFORE APPLICATION

Prior to passport application, all applicants need a:

  • A duly completed application form;
  • Those born in Lesotho must acquire birth certificate at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lesotho;
  • Those born abroad must first apply and obtain a birth certificate in their country of birth;
  • Make an appointment through the Lesotho High Commission website (https://lesothohc.org.uk/) whereby you may submit your documents in person at the High Commission for biometric capture;
  • Your current and accessible email address and a contact telephone number. These are necessary for the High Commission Consular department to be able to reach you.
  • A duly completed application form;
  • An original passport and National Identity Card;
  • Certified copy of the Certificate of Naturalisation after regaining the Kingdom of Lesotho citizenship and or Declared the Kingdom of Lesotho citizenship for Dual Citizens;
  • Copy of residence permit granted by your country of residence;
  • Dual Citizens are required to declare their other nationality prior to renewing the Kingdom Lesotho passports;
  • A secure, registered, and trackable self-addressed envelope with prepaid postage for dispatch of your documents. The envelope should have sufficient postage (not less than £10) clearly indicating full names and post code for the applicant;
  • Your current and accessible email address and a contact telephone number. These are necessary for the High Commission Consular department to be able to reach you.

Always check your application form before submission, to ensure all details are correct. Ensure that you’ve provided all required documents in support of your application. An incomplete or incorrect application can delay your visa approval process.
